Winchester Model 50 Shotgun Review. This was not accepted by Winchester management, and they paid a price for this decision with lasting effects to this day. The Winchester Model 50 Shotgun is an interesting artifact. Other than the aluminum alloy trigger guard housing, the piece is constructed of machined, forged-steel parts. Up to this point, other than the aforementioned Auto-5, all repeating shotguns from Winchester used a tilting bolt that locked into a receiver mortise in its inside-top surface.

Wed May 09, 8: NCWa I use a M37 16ga as one of the guns shot by students in my hunter education classes, so it has about 50 rounds through it per class, times per year, for about 15 years. The only problem that the students have is that some will not be listening on the loading instructions and try to push the shell completely into the chamber past the extractor.
Other than that I’ve had no problems with it. An easy way to check would be to take some of the shells that misfire and reinsert one into the chamber, but before closing the action place some layers of aluminum foil, cut to shellface size, between the shellface and the action face. Try closing the action, easily. Add sheets of foil until there is noticeable resistance.
Count up the sheets and if you have a micrometer, measure the thickness. I’m not sure what factory specs for headspace are, but if you repeat the process with shells that always fire, and there is a difference, then headspace would possibly be a reason.
